LeSean McCoy has been nominated for the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week following his record-setting rushing performance in the snow against the Lions on Sunday.

McCoy has already received the weekly honor that goes to the NFL’s top running back each week four times in his five-year career.

McCoy, a fifth-year back from Pitt, rushed 29 times for an Eagles-record 217 yards Sunday in the Eagles’ 34-20 win over the Lions at the Linc.

McCoy ran for 145 yards in the fourth quarter, including 127 yards in the first three minutes of the fourth quarter.

With TD runs of 40 and 57 yards, he became the fourth player in NFL history to score on twice on touchdown runs of at least 40 yards in a fourth quarter and the first Eagle to score two TDs of 40 yards or more in any quarter in 68 years.

McCoy broke the franchise record of 205 rushing yards set in 1949 by Hall of Famer Steve Van Buren in a game against the Steelers at Shibe Park.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, requested McCoy’s jersey, gloves and cleats from the game, played in a heavy snowfall, for display.

Jamaal Charles of the Chiefs and Bobby Rainey of the Buccaneers are the other nomines for the FedEx Ground Player of the Week.

Rainey ran 22 times for 127 yards and an 80-yard touchdown in the Buccaneers’ win over the Bills. Charles was 19-for-151 with a touchdown in the Chiefs’ win over the Redskins.

McCoy received the FedEx Ground Award for his Week 1 performance against the Redskins, when he rushed for 184 yards and a touchdown.

He also received the honor after a 120-yard, three-touchdown game against the Lions in 2010, a 185-yard game against the Cowboys in 2011 and a 122-yard, two-TD performance against the Rams in 2010.

Eagles quarterback Nick Foles has received the FedEx Air Award twice this year, following wins over the Buccaneers and Raiders.

With three games left, McCoy leads the NFL with 1,305 rushing yards and 1,744 yards from scrimmage.

The Eagles, 8-5, are in first place in the NFC East with games left at Minnesota, home against the Bears and at Dallas.
