LeSean McCoy has the ninth-most votes in the first fan Pro Bowl voting figures, released by the league on Wednesday.
McCoy has 349,706 votes, ninth among all players at all positions in the fan portion of the balloting, which continues through Dec. 26.
Three tailbacks have more votes than McCoy – Jamaal Charles of the Chiefs (453,761), Marshawn Lynch of the Seahawks (443,533) and Adrian Peterson of the Vikings (410,002) rank third, fifth and sixth overall.
This year’s Pro Bowl is the first non-conferenced Pro Bowl. Teams will be selected in a nationally televised draft the week before the game.
That means the top four running backs in the NFL will make the Pro Bowl, not the top two from each conference.
McCoy leads the NFL with 1,408 yards from scrimmage, 222 more than Charles (who has played one fewer game).
Among the top running backs in fan voting, McCoy is averaging 128 yards from scrimmage per game, Charles is averaging 119, Lynch is at 104 and Peterson 101.
McCoy also leads the NFL in rushing yards at 1,009, 84 more than Lynch and 158 more than Peterson in one more game.
McCoy also has a higher yards-per-carry average than the other top vote recipients: McCoy (4.74), Lynch (4.45), Peterson (4.39) and Charles (4.32).
McCoy made the Pro Bowl and was a first-team all-pro in 2011, when he led the NFL with 17 rushing touchdowns and 20 total touchdowns. He finished that year with 1,309 rushing yards and 1,624 net yards of offense.
McCoy has rushed for 1,099 yards and five touchdowns in 11 games and has 34 catches for 399 yards. He’s on pace for 1,598 rushing yards and 580 receiving yards. Only eight players in NFL history have had 1,600 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards in the same season.
The top two vote recipients in the initial fan voting are quarterbacks, Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning with 654,309 votes and Saints quarterback Drew Brees with 540,036.
Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson (fourth with 449,346), Saints tight end Jimmy Graham (seventh with 376,637), Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green (eighth with 368,708) and Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant (10th with 345,850) round out the top 10.
The Pro Bowl is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST Jan. 26 at the Aloha Bowl in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Fan voting counts one-third of the final total. Player balloting and coach balloting each count as a third as well. The coaches and players vote on Dec. 23.
