More NFL Notes: Darrelle Revis' status uncertain vs. Eagles

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis sat out practice with a groin injury, and his status for the team's game against Philadelphia on Sunday is uncertain.

Coach Todd Bowles did not mention Revis' injury at his news conference after practice Wednesday, and was not asked about the cornerback by reporters. Revis' status was not known publicly until the team released its injury report. Bowles was not expected to address the injury until Thursday.

Revis was selected the AFC defensive player of the week earlier in the day after recovering two fumbles and had an interception Monday night in New York's 20-7 win at Indianapolis.

Saints: Brees confident he will play this week
METAIRIE, La. -- Saints quarterback Drew Brees says he is confident he will be able to play on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers despite a bruised rotator cuff in his throwing shoulder.

Brees says the key is balancing rest and rehab through the week so that he's as strong as possible by kickoff.

Brees says he did not throw at all at Wednesday's practice, but was on the field studying the construction and timing of each play the Saints were working on.

Since joining the Saints in 2006, Brees has never missed a start because of an injury.

Texans: Foster, Hopkins out against Bucs
HOUSTON -- Texans coach Bill O'Brien doesn't expect Arian Foster to return from a groin injury against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday and wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins will likely be out, too because of a concussion.

Foster, who has been out with a groin injury, practiced on Wednesday but was limited.

O'Brien is still optimistic about Foster's overall progress.

"I think that he's a guy that really understands his own body very well," O'Brien said. "He's really looking good in practice. Like the way he looks. He looks like he's in good shape. He feels better. I'm not sure about this week, but I would say that he would be back sooner rather than later."

O'Brien did not address the injury to Hopkins on Wednesday and it is unclear when he was injured. But the injury report listed Hopkins, Houston's top receiver, as not practicing because of a concussion.

Cardinals: Kerwynn Williams re-signed to practice squad
TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Arizona Cardinals re-signed running back Kerwynn Williams to the practice squad Wednesday, a day after he was released from the practice squad.

Williams was elevated from the practice squad to the active roster last week, and had one carry for 3 yards Sunday in Arizona's 48-23 victory at Chicago.

Williams appeared in five games for Arizona last season, running for 246 yards on 53 carries and catching two passes for 11 yards. He rushed for 100 yards on 19 carries in a victory over Kansas City on Dec 7, and had 75 yards on 15 carries the following week in a home win over St. Louis. The former Utah State player also played in one game for the Indianapolis Colts in 2013.
