NFL Notes: Johnny Manziel investigated after altercation

CLEVELAND -- Troubled Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel is being investigated by police in Texas following a disturbance during which he may have assaulted his ex-girlfriend.

Manziel, who has had two tumultuous seasons in the NFL, was identified by Forth Worth police after they were called at about 2 a.m. Saturday to investigate a report of a possible assault at an apartment complex. The officers didn't find the person who called, but they spoke to an unidentified 23-year-old woman who said she was "involved in a disturbance with her ex-boyfriend" earlier that night in Dallas.

Sgt. Steve Enright later identified him as Manziel. There were no arrests, and it's not clear if Manziel has yet been questioned.

Police didn't say if the woman was hurt. An ambulance was called, but she was not taken to a hospital (see full story).

Broncos: This time, all injured players will go
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Ryan Clady and Jeff Heuerman didn't even make it to training camp before getting injured during offseason workouts. They're going to the Super Bowl with the rest of their teammates, though.

The seven players on injured reserve will fly out with the team when the Denver Broncos leave for the Super Bowl on Sunday.

That's a departure from two years ago when former coach John Fox left behind all his injured players, including stars Von Miller and Chris Harris Jr., when the Broncos flew to New York (see full story).

Panthers: Broken arm? Davis has had worse
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Thomas Davis knows all about pain and toughness.

So excuse the Panthers All-Pro linebacker if he snickers at the notion that 12 screws and a plate in his broken right forearm is about to keep him from the biggest game of his career.

"I'm still looking forward to playing on Super Bowl Sunday," he says with a wide, knowing grin.

Davis has overcome too much, and at 32 come too far to even think about missing this one (see full story).
