ALAMEDA, Calif. -- The Oakland Raiders have traded for Seattle backup quarterback Matt Flynn in the team's latest change at the game's most important position.

The deal announced by the Seahawks on Monday signals the end to Carson Palmer's tenure in Oakland. Palmer is expected to be dealt to Arizona.

Oakland will send a fifth-round pick in 2014 and a conditional pick in 2015 to Seattle for Flynn, who left Green Bay and signed a lucrative free agent deal with Seattle last year. But he couldn't beat out rookie Russell Wilson for the starting job.

The Raiders also will receive a late-round pick from Arizona if the deal for Palmer is completed.

The Raiders traded a 2012 first-round pick and 2013 second-rounder to Cincinnati for Palmer midway through the 2011 season.

McCoy traded to 49ers

CLEVELAND (AP) -- A person familiar with the deal says the Cleveland Browns have traded quarterback Colt McCoy to San Francisco.

McCoy, who started 21 games for the Browns in three seasons, has been sent to the 49ers for a late-round draft pick, said the person who spoke Monday to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the teams have not yet announced the trade.

McCoy became expendable last week when the Browns signed veteran backup Jason Campbell, who is expected to challenge Brandon Weeden for the starting job.

CBSSports.com was first to report the deal.

The Browns selected McCoy in third round of the 2010 draft. He played in eight games as a rookie and started 13 in 2011 before his season was ended by a concussion.

McCoy went 6-15 as a starter.

Bengals re-sign Newman

CINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati Bengals have re-signed cornerback Terence Newman to a two-year contract.

Newman will enter his 11th NFL season and second with the Bengals. He played his first nine seasons with Dallas after being drafted in the first round in 2003.

Last season, Newman led the Bengals in passes defensed with 14 and had two interceptions to raise his career total to 34.

Defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer says Newman is "the kind of guy we want back as we work to keep our defense together."

Cincinnati also has re-signed ends Robert Geathers, Michael Johnson and Wallace Gilberry, cornerback Adam Jones and linebacker Rey Maualuga from last year's defense.
