RICHMOND, Va. -- Whatever Junior Galette has been accused of away from football, and whatever punishment might come from an NFL review, Washington Redskins coach Jay Gruden wanted to sign the outside linebacker to help the team's pass rush.

Less than a week after being released by the New Orleans Saints because of off-field problems, Galette agreed Friday to a one-year contract with the Redskins that agent Alvin Keels wrote on Twitter is for the league minimum -- $745,000 for a player entering his sixth season in the league.

In adding Galette, "who's had maybe a checkered past, so to speak, we feel like the locker room that we have is strong enough that we can help him out," Gruden said (see full story)

Titans: Receiver Hunter leaving legal questions to attorney
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Titans wide receiver Justin Hunter says he's focusing only on football during training camp, referring questions about his arrest for a fight to his attorney.

Hunter spoke Friday for the first time since turning himself in July 20, and he says he's not thinking about how that arrest might affect his future in Tennessee.

"I just feel like I got to work harder because it's my third year, and I've got a lot of stuff to prove just from last year," Hunter said after the first practice of Tennessee's training camp (see full story)

Redskins: CB Bashaud Breeland suspended for 1 game by NFL
RICHMOND, Va. -- Washington Redskins second-year cornerback Bashaud Breeland has been suspended for one game without pay by the NFL for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.

Breeland will miss the Redskins' first regular-season game, at home against the Miami Dolphins on Sept. 13, the league said Friday.

The announcement comes nearly a full year after Breeland was cited for misdemeanor possession of marijuana the night before the Redskins broke training camp in August 2014. The fourth-round draft pick was cited on the campus of Virginia Commonwealth University, about a dozen blocks from the Redskins' training camp facility.

The team said Breeland would speak to the media after training camp practice Friday.

Browns: Farmer says approach won't change despite his suspension
BEREA, Ohio -- Even though he has been suspended for the first four weeks of the NFL's regular season, Browns general manager Ray Farmer said Friday his approach to building the roster during training camp and the regular season will not change.

"We will prepare the same way and keep the best 53 players," Farmer said after the second practice of training camp. "We will go through and figure out who is available. No decision is made in a vacuum. Coaches and scouts have a say and we talk about what is best for the Browns. It is not just me sitting in a room."

The league announced in March that Farmer would be suspended four games for texting during games, which violates NFL rules on electronic devices (see full story)
