Place Your Bets: Eagles' Super Bowl odds plummet

Share

Still like the Eagles to win the Super Bowl despite their 38-27 setback against the Cowboys last week? Now's your chance to put your money down.

With Sunday's loss, the Eagles' odds to win the big game plummeted from 12/1 — which were fifth-lowest in the league — to 33/1, according to Bovada.

That drops the Birds to 10th and gives them the same chances as the 9-5 Ravens and the Saints, who at 6-8 are currently in first place in the awful NFC South.

The huge drop is because the Eagles no longer control their own destiny to make the playoffs. Even if they win out and finish 11-5, they'll still need some help to get in.

Assuming the Eagles beat the Redskins and Giants, to win the division, the Cowboys would have to lose to either the Colts or Redskins. To win a wild card, either the Lions, Packers or Seahawks would have to lose their final two games since all three teams own the tiebreaker over the Birds.

If you're still optimistic or like the potential of a big payout, the Eagles are sixth at 14/1 to win the NFC and 7/4 to clinch the NFC East (the Cowboys are 2/5).

After their big victory, the Cowboys' odds to win the Super Bowl improved from 20/1 to 14/1. To win the conference, they're 7/1.

The Patriots, whose only loss in their last 10 games was to the Packers at Lambeau Field, are Super Bowl favorites at 3/1. The Seahawks (13/4), Broncos (5/1), Packers (5/1) and Cowboys (14/1) round out the top five.

The Browns, Texans and Dolphins — whose postseason hopes are all hanging on by a thread — are the longest shots at 500/1 to win it all.
