We know that Lane Johnson will miss the Eagles’ first four games because of a PED suspension handed down by the NFL. And we know that Allen Barbre will be Johnson’s fill-in.
Chip Kelly and his staff continue to prepare Barbre for his interim starting role. Barbre drew the start at right tackle in the Eagles' preseason opener against the Bears, affording him extra reps with the first-team offensive line.
“What they’re doing is giving Barbre extra time to get accustomed to the starters, get accustomed to (Jason) Kelce’s call, how he snaps and the voice of the quarterback,” former Eagles center Jamaal Jackson said Thursday on Philly Sports Talk. "All that plays a big part in developing that chemistry."
