Quick Slants: Didinger and Gunn predict NFC East

Eight weeks of the NFL season have gone by and the NFC East is looking like a two-horse race between the Eagles and Cowboys.

The Eagles (5-2) lost their second game of the season last Sunday to the Cardinals. The Cowboys (6-2) also lost their second game of the season on Monday night to the Redskins (3-5).

Despite the loss, the Cowboys are the surprise team in the NFL because of how successful they've been on both sides of the ball. But are they the favorite to win the division? Remember, it's still only October.

"I'm going to continue to pick the Eagles to win this division until proven otherwise," Ray Didinger said this week on Quick Slants. "The Cowboys have played well to this point on the offensive side, but I still think their defense is just so-so."

The Eagles are 5-2 in spite of their inconsistencies. The offense has been too careless with the football, and the defense has given up its share of big plays.

"I just think talent for talent, indeed the Eagles are the better team between the two," Gunn said. "And I fully expect them to win this division."
