Quick Slants: Do 2015 Eagles have enough talent?

Share

On Monday night's edition of Quick Slants, Comcast SportsNet's Ron Burke and Philadelphia Inquirer beat reporter Jeff McLane debated whether the 2015 Eagles have enough talent to be Super Bowl contenders.

The departures of LeSean McCoy, Jeremy Maclin, and now Evan Mathis, leave the Eagles without some of their biggest contributors.

Burke believes the Cowboys have to be considered the favorites in the NFC East because of veteran quarterback Tony Romo.

"I always go with the team that won it before if there hasn't been any major change at the quarterback position or overall defensively," Burke said. "So I would have to say the Dallas Cowboys have the edge there."

Much of the Eagles' success will be dependent upon the production they get out of the quarterback position. The team parted ways with Nick Foles, who went 14-4 under Chip Kelly. In the trade with Rams, the Eagles acquired former No. 1 overall pick Sam Bradford. Bradford is coming off his second ACL tear. Health is a concern, but McLane believes Bradford can win games for Kelly.

"With the Eagles, they have an obvious question mark at the quarterback position," McLane said. "We don't know how that knee is gonna hold up, but if you were to tell me that he's gonna be healthy for the whole entire season I think this team can certainly get into the playoffs and win a game or two."
