Quick Slants: Jordan Matthews' star potential

Share

With Mike Evans, Kelvin Benjamin, Sammy Watkins, Brandin Cooks, Jordan Matthews and more, there's no question the talent level of this season's rookie wide receivers is special.

Matthews was one of 12 receivers taken in the first two rounds of this year's NFL draft.

In his last three games, the Eagles' wideout has 285 yards and three touchdowns. The SEC's all-time leading receiver is starting to show why the Birds took him in the second round.

"He has the physical makeup and size (6-3, 215)," Derrick Gunn said recently of Quick Slants. "I do think Jordan Matthews has the makeup to be a future star in the NFL."

He's now fourth among rookie WRs in receiving yards (558) and tied for third in touchdowns (6).

At the same time, Reuben Frank loves the selfless, team-first mentality that complements the personalities in the Eagles' locker room.

"Even when he has a big game, he's not comfortable talking about himself," Frank said. "It's about the team."
