Man, Duce Staley must really not like DeMarco Murray.
After all, isn't the running back playing time up to the running backs coach?
At least, that's what Chip Kelly has been feeding everyone this season. Again on Sunday, after the game, Kelly said it was just the rotation and Murray was a part of the rotation. But the big free agent acquisition got just two carries on eight snaps. Murray, when asked, said it was out of his control (see story).
Here's how the running back snaps ended up: Darren Sproles got 30 of 64, followed by Ryan Mathews' 26, and Murray had just eight. Kenjon Barner didn't see the field on offense.
The entire offensive line played all 64 snaps, which is a good sign. Sam Bradford missed just one snap, when he hurt his shoulder and briefly came out of the game.
The Eagles continued to miss production from their outside receivers. Despite playing 53 snaps (89 percent), Nelson Agholor had zero catches on one target. Josh Huff led the way for the outside receivers with four catches for 52 yards on 24 snaps.
On defense, Malcolm Jenkins and Walter Thurmond played all 76 snaps. Normally, the starting base secondary has been playing the entire game, but injuries changed that on Sunday. Byron Maxwell played 28 snaps before leaving with a shoulder injury and Eric Rowe played 20 before leaving with a concussion. So E.J. Biggers played 59 snaps and Jaylen Watkins, who re-joined the team less than a month ago, played 49.
NFL
Former first-round pick Marcus Smith played 11 snaps, mostly toward the end of the game. He did, however, pick up three combined tackles and a half a sack.
