A penny saved is a penny earned, right?

Relatively speaking, the Eagles saved themselves some pennies under this year's cap by restructuring the contract of linebacker Bryan Braman, a league source told CSNPhilly.com's Geoff Mosher.

ESPN's Field Yates and NJ.com's Eliott Shorr-Parks first reported the news.

Braman's salary for this year will be reduced from $1.2 million to $745,000, and in return he'll receive a one-year extension and a $350,000 increase in guaranteed money for a total of $450,000.

A four-year veteran, Braman signed a two-year deal with the Eagles last offseason and became one of their top contributors on special teams.

After their frenzy of acquisitions this month, the Eagles need to clear cap space. They reportedly are working on a new deal with Sam Bradford, whose contract takes up a bit more of the cap than Braman's. Bradford is scheduled to earn just under $13 million next season.

The Eagles should now be $8 million under the cap. Per overthecap.com, they were $7.5 million before this move.
