The Eagles still have their feet in the free-agent waters, perhaps willing to make another small splash.

According to league sources, the team will host free-agent pass rusher Victor Butler, who left Cleveland on Monday without a contract agreement with the Browns. Butler, who has also reportedly visited the Saints and Steelers, will meet with Eagles brass and coaches Monday night and Tuesday.

Butler, a 6-foot-2, 231-pound outside linebacker, spent his first four seasons with the Cowboys, who picked him in the fourth round of the 2009 draft out of Oregon State. He has 11 career sacks and four forced fumbles as a rotational pass rusher.

The Eagles recently signed free-agent outside linebacker Connor Barwin and added him to a group of pass rushers that includes Trent Cole, Brandon Graham, Vinny Curry, Phillip Hunt and newcomers Chris McCoy and Everette Brown.

If Butler signs with the Eagles, he would continue to be used in a rotation and contribute on special teams, according to another source. League sources have said the Eagles have no intention of trading Cole, who signed a long-term deal last offseason but has never played professionally in a 3-4 scheme, or getting rid of Graham, who was the team’s best pass rusher last year and enters the last year of his rookie contract.

Curry (6-3, 263) is fresh off his rookie season and was worked out by several 3-4 teams at this time last year but it’s uncertain whether the Eagles view him as an outside linebacker or undersized lineman. Barwin just signed a six-year deal and is the team’s only pass rusher with 3-4 scheme experience at the NFL level.
