Three perfect drives all Sam Bradford needed against Packers

GREEN BAY, Wisc. — Some expected Sam Bradford to play three quarters for the Eagles Saturday night in Green Bay.

He played three drives.

It was all he needed in the dress rehearsal.

Bradford was stellar in the first quarter Saturday night, going a perfect 10 for 10 for 121 yards and three touchdowns as the Eagles jumped out to a quick 25-0 lead over the Packers.

On the first drive, Bradford hit Darren Sproles for an eight-yard TD on a wheel route down the left sideline.

On the second drive, he made a pinpoint pass only Jordan Matthews could catch — probably Bradford's best of the preseason — for 27 yards. Six plays later, facing 4th-and-goal from the Packers' 3, Bradford took a hit but delivered a TD to backup tight end Trey Burton on a crossing route.

On his final drive of the night, Bradford led the Eagles to 59 yards on four plays in just 89 seconds. Sproles opened the drive in the slot, caught a pass over the middle and turned upfield for a 33-yard gain. Bradford then delivered another pretty ball only Matthews could catch, for 17 yards to the Green Bay 9. One play later, he found Brent Celek all alone in the back of the end zone for a seven-yard score.

By mistake, ESPN.com initially credited Bradford's numbers on that last drive to Tim Tebow. Perhaps it was out of charity after Tebow was stoned on one two-point conversion and threw an incomplete pass on another.
