WATCH: Trotter explains why DeSean chose ‘Skins

Jeremiah Trotter knows what it's like to make the jump from Philadelphia to Washington D.C.

Trotter, who is one of just four linebackers in Eagles history to earn four or more Pro Bowl invitations, failed to agree on a contract with the Eagles after having the franchise tag placed on him in 2001 and went on to sign a seven-year, $36 million deal with the Redskins later that offseason.

So the "Axe Man" has a pretty good understanding of why DeSean Jackson choose to sign with the Redskins after being cut by the Eagles last Friday.

"He gets to face the Eagles twice a year," said Trotter, who was a guest on "Philly Sports Talk" Wednesday. "That had a lot to do with it. When I went to Washington that was one of my major decisions."

Jackson on Wednesday said being cut was a "humbling experience" but credited several of his new teammates for their D.C.-style lobbying to get him to sign with the Eagles' NFC East rival (see story).

At least Jackson didn't sign with the Cowboys, right? That was one team Trotter never even thought about signing with at the time.

"Obviously, I wasn't going to Dallas no matter how much money they were offering me," Trotter joked. "That would just be a stab in the fans back."
