Why haven't Eagles given Sproles more touches?

One of the Eagles' most productive offensive players through their first few games can't seem to find the field of late.

Through the first two games of the season, Darren Sproles had 263 yards from scrimmage. In the last two, he's put together only 56 yards from scrimmage on 18 fewer touches.

The numbers would suggest that Sproles deserves more playing time, but the coaching staff has not seen it the same way.

His touches have dipped in each game this season, reaching a season-low of three in Sunday's loss to the 49ers.

With LeSean McCoy struggling this season, it would seem like the right time to unleash Sproles on offense. Though padded by a small sample size, Sproles is averaging 6.7 yards per carry and 12.4 yards per reception.

"You can't just eliminate him from the offense, that's not why you brought him in here," CSN's Derrick Gunn said Tuesday on Quick Slants.

CSNPhilly.com columnist Reuben Frank agrees. "[Chip Kelly] is not somewhat wrong on this one, he's dead wrong on this one," Frank said.
