A List of Reasons Why the Flyers Should Draft Defenseman Slater Koekkoek

Here is a comprehensive list of the reasons why I would like the Flyers to draft 6 foot 2 inch defenseman from Mountain, Ontario, Slater Koekkoek:

1. His first name is "Slater"
2. His last name is "Koekkoek"

I think that's a fairly exhaustive list, yes?

If you're looking for more info on Slater, SBNation's Defending Big D site has him linked to the Flyers:

The flyers could have the real steal of the first round here picking up a talented potential top pairing defenseman. It helps add strength and point production to their blueline.

Here's what Boston Bruins' insider Joe Haggerty said about Mr. Koekkoek:

Slater Koekkoek (defenseman) – The 6-foot-2, 184-pounder had 18 points in 26 games for the Peterborough Petes before going down with a season-ending shoulder injury. He probably would have gone before No. 24 if he’d had a healthy season, so the Bruins could luck out if he slides to them. He plays big minutes, has a solid all-around game and would be a steal for the Black and Gold if he drops. Sometimes that's the best hope for a team drafting at the back end of the first round.

And finally, CSNPhilly's Russ Cohen lists Slater as one of fourteen potential Flyers draft picks:

Slater Koekkoek – defenseman – 6-2/184

This defenseman seems to be over his shoulder injury. He showed great strength in the combine. He possesses a good point shot and good closing speed. He has to work on two-step quickness, but he wants the puck on his stick.

But really, it's the name. Just think of all of the nickname potential.
