Flyers Select QMJHL Center Couturier

With the 8th pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, the Philadelphia Flyers have selected Sean Couturier. Couturier, a 6'3, 192-pound center from the Drummondville Voltiguers of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, figures to join the newly-acquired Brayden Schenn as the future of the Flyers franchise in the middle of the ice. Stop me, by the way, if you've heard that one before...

Upon hearing his name announced, the TSN draft commentators immediately
likened his game to that of Jordan Staal, a player the Flyers have had
the misfortune of seeing quite a bit of these past few years.

While we can't say we know much about him, his scouting report can be found here, his QMJHL statistics here, and his YouTube highlight reel above.

Happy Birthday, by the way, to Matt P's mom. Show her your love people!
