Extreme Makeover: Flyers Edition picked up this afternoon where it left off late last week as the Flyers announced the trading of forward/center Darroll Powe to Minnesota in exchange for their third round draft pick in 2013.
Powe was a fast skater and hard hitter who contributed valuable checking line minutes and penalty killing to the Flyers last season. He was one of a few guys who didn't look lost on the ice against the Bruins in the playoffs.
One take on the move to deal away such a solid penalty killer, from Phantoms beat writer Tim McManus, "Flyers trade a center who is great on the penalty kill. Sounds like a tailor-made opening for Ben Holmstrom."

Powe was is an RFA, but most expected him to re-sign with the Flyers. Then again, most expected Mike Richards to be the Captain as well.
