NFL.com has a ranking of the best uniforms in all of U.S. sports in the year 2012 as judged by their resident expert on the subject known as the "Uniform Monitor." The Philadelphia 76ers crack the list at No. 31, with the Iverson-era unis taking some criticism but the current look being appreciated for its timelessness. The Iggles and Phils come in at No. 50 and No. 51, respectively. He's a fan of the throwbacks to the 1960 season the Birds wore for one game last season. We can't argue.
Perhaps the surprise of the whole list though? Philadelphia's hockey team was the best in all the land (in a list, about the closest we get to bragging rights, I guess).
Here's what he has to say about your Philadelphia Flyers and their trusty orange and black:
1. Flyers: In the name of full disclosure, I am not a Flyers fan --
matter of fact, they're my least favorite team in sports -- but dang if
those orange and black getups don't sing like Kate Smith in the Spectrum
before a playoff game. They're paradoxically straight out of the 1970s
and timeless all at once. Kudos, you dirty creeps. Might this be the
only thing you win for another century.
