For the first time this season, the NHL has recognized a Flyer for his accomplishments on the ice.
Flyers captain Claude Giroux was named the league’s Third Star for the month of March.
Boston right wing Jarome Iginla was named No. 1 star, followed by Detroit right wing Gustav Nyquist.
Giroux led the three honorees during March in both assists (15) and points (21). The Flyers went 9-3-2.
Giroux, 26, accrued at least one point in 11 of 14 games, including seven multi-point performances and three three-point efforts.
He is currently third in the NHL scoring race with 78 points in 74 games. The Flyers are 19-2-1 when Giroux scores a goal this season and 32-13-3 when he records at least one point.
