The Flyers have acquired forward Kris Newbury from the New York Rangers in exchange for defenseman Danny Syvret, the Flyers announced on Monday.

Newbury, a 5-foot-11, 205-pound forward joined the Rangers' organization in 2010 and has since played 222 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack, the Rangers' AHL affiliate. Over that span, Newbury, 31, compiled 66 goals, 139 assists and 205 points. He appeared in 24 games for the Rangers -- six last season -- and has also played for the Maple Leafs and Red Wings. In 72 career NHL games, Newbury has four goals, five assists and nine points.

Syvret played in 76 games last season with the Adirondack Phantoms and posted six goals, 34 assists and 40 points. The 28-year-old has 59 career NHL games under his belt with the Flyers, Ducks and Oilers, compared to 483 career AHL games. Syvret played in 10 playoff games for the Flyers in 2011.
