Monday night was extra special for Scott Hartnell.

Not only did the Flyers notch their ninth straight win at home to move into third place of the Metropolitan Division and a playoff spot (see story), but Hartnell also recorded his 500th career NHL point -- an assist on Luke Schenn’s goal in the first period (see highlights).

“It's special and pretty cool," Hartnell said. "Luke made a great shot."

The point also made the 31-year-old Flyer appreciate his profession that much more.

"It has been a great run so far," Hartnell said. "Playing in the NHL is the best job in the world.”

North American Frozen Cup
This tournament features 65 youth hockey teams from 11 different states and four teams from Hong Kong.

They will play a combined 128 games over four days at three Flyers Skate Zone locations in the Greater Philadelphia Region from Thursday through Sunday. The three Flyers Skate Zone locations are Voorhees, N.J., Pennsauken, N.J. and Northeast Philadelphia.

“We are thrilled to partner with Selects Hockey and have this opportunity to showcase the city of Philadelphia as a hockey town at three of our facilities,” vice president of rink management and development for Flyers Skate Zone Pat Ferrill said.

“We look forward to an outstanding weekend of hockey, one that will be a memorable one for all of the participants.”

The participants range in age from 7 to 16. The Team Comcast Youth Hockey Club will serve as the host organization for the Tier I divisions and the Flyers Youth Hockey Club will serve as the host organization for the Tier II divisions.
