CHICAGO -- Scott Hartnell played his 900th NHL game last Saturday in Dallas and now the Flyers' left winger is approaching another milestone he could nail Wednesday night against the Blackhawks.
Hartnell needs three points for 500 in his career. Steve Downie needs three assists for 100 in his career while defenseman Mark Streit needs two points for 300 as a NHL player.
The Flyers would like to return from this 12-day, six-game road trip with a winning record. They are 2-2-1 right now.
And they have a back-to-back here, facing Danny Briere and the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night at the Wells Fargo Center.
How good are the Blackhawks? They’ve earned points in 27 of 33 games this season, which is why they’re ranked No. 1 in the Western Conference overall (see game notes). This is the second of a back-to-back for Chicago, which defeated the Stars in Dallas on Tuesday, 6-2. The Hawks are undefeated in regulation play during the second games of back-to-backs: 5-0-2.
Hawks center Jonathan Toews picked up his 400th career point on Tuesday at Dallas with an assist.
The ex-Flyer in question would be Patrick Sharp, who scored two goals at Dallas and is second on the Hawks in points with 29. Patrick Kane leads the Hawks with 40 points -- second highest in the NHL.
