The first cuts of Flyers training camp came Monday afternoon when the club announced four players had been released or sent back to their respective junior teams.

Goalie Anthony Stolarz, who played in Sunday’s loss to Toronto in London, Ont., went back to London of the OHL. He gave up one goal in the 4-3 loss.

The Flyers still have big expectations for the 6-foot-6 Stolarz in the future and figure he is two or three years away from seriously competing for an NHL job.

Forwards Stephen Harper (Erie) and Andrew Ryan (Halifax) and defenseman Colin MacDonald (Plymouth) were all returned their junior teams, as well. None of those players were expected to challenge for jobs in this training camp. Evaluations of them were based against their own peer group in the rookie camp earlier this month.
