Spring has sprung for the Flyers.
On Thursday, they signed 24-year-old free agent center Kyle Flanagan to a one-year contract for the 2013-14 season, according to general manager Paul Holmgren.
Flanagan will be assigned to the Phantoms on a tryout agreement for the rest of the season.
The 5-foot-7, 190-pound forward recently completed his senior year at St. Lawrence University (ECAC) in his hometown of Canton, New York. Flanagan scored 15 goals and added 32 assists for 47 points in 35 games this past season while serving as captain of the Saints.
During his four-year collegiate career, Flanagan amassed 46 goals and 101 assists for 147 points in 134 games. He has been named a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award as the top collegiate player for 2012-13.
Prior to St. Lawrence, Flanagan played two seasons for the Cedar Rapids Roughriders of the United States Hockey League. He had 29 goals and 64 assists for 93 points in 117 games for the club.
