The Flyers added more depth to the organization on Thursday, signing fourth-line centerman Ryan White to a one-year, two-way contract.
Curious move, to say the least.
The club is already too well-stocked with centers and the 26-year-old White projects to play with the Phantoms.
The 6-foot, 200-pound forward has spent the past five seasons playing sparingly for the Montreal Canadiens.
He has low offensive potential and will rack up far more penalty minutes than points. This is an odd move by Flyers general manager Ron Hextall, especially given that Flyers coach Craig Berube is constantly stressing team discipline.
White had two goals and six points in 52 games with Montreal last season while missing 14 with an eye injury.
