Ron Hextall's first move as general manager of the Flyers has been made.

The Flyers announced Wednesday that they have signed forward Pierre-Edouard Bellemare, a native of Paris, to an NHL contract.

Bellemare, 29, spent the last five seasons with Skelleftea of the Swedish Hockey League, posting 20 goals and 35 points in 52 games with the team last season. He had 64 goals and 61 assists for 125 points in 238 games over the last five.

The 6-foot, 196-pound Bellemare also played for France in the 2014 IIHF World Championships and recorded three goals and five assists in eight games. He had an assist and the game-winning shootout goal in a 3-2 upset win over Team Canada in the preliminary round of the tournament.
