Flyers select goalie Stolarz with No. 45 pick

PITTSBURGHThe Flyers used the second-round pick they received in the trade that sent Sergei Bobrovsky to the Columbus Blue Jackets on yet another goalie, New Jersey native Anthony Stolarz.

Stolarz, whom the Flyers grabbed 45th overall, is a tall, wiry goalie currently playing for Corpus Christi of the North American Hockey League. At 6-foot-5 and 200 pounds, Stolarz is somewhat of a butterfly-style goalie who compared his style to Pekka Rinne of the Nashville Predators.

The 18-year-old is familiar with the Flyers because he grew up by the Jersey Shore, a big Devils fan who admired Martin Brodeur growing up. Hes never been to the Wells Fargo Center to see a game, but he has watched the Flyers take on New Jersey at the Prudential Center.

He was cheering for the Devils then, of course, but that all ends now.

Im a Flyers fan now, he said, grinning
