Flyers forward Danny Briere is still out indefinitely with a back injury he suffered against the Penguins last Sunday. Briere was taken out by a hit from Joe Vitale with just 1:03 to play.

On Tuesday, Briere said he was unsure if he would be ready for the start of the playoffs and his back has been in spasms.

Obviously, he knew what he was doing," Briere said on Tuesday. "He was trying to hurt me. We all know that. It was clean hit, Im the first one to admit to that. I saw him come up at the last second. I braced myself to take the hit. It just turned out bad, this time.

Defenseman Nicklas Grossmann, who remains day-to-day with a lower-body injury, was also taken out by Vitale on Sunday. He wore a brace on each knee on Thursday but was optimistic he'll be ready for the playoffs.

Defenseman Andrej Meszaros is two-to-four weeks away from return following back surgery. Meszaros hasn't played since March 1. In 62 games this season, Meszaros has seven goals and 18 assists.

Forward James van Riemsdyk is also two-to-three weeks away from returning from his foot surgery.

JVR suffered a broken bone in his left foot on March 1 against the Islanders and has 11 goals (24 points) in 43 games played this season.
