Here's a look at what else is going on around the NHL as the off-season continues.
On the short list
Good news for Flyers fans: The Flyers are one of the six teams Rick Nash would play for and waive his no-trade clause. The Columbus Dispatch reports the Flyers as one of the few teams Nash has on his short list.
Also on the list: Boston, Detroit, the New York Rangers, Pittsburgh and San Jose. The Canadian-born captain of the Blue Jackets seems to only be interested in American teams.
The Columbus Dispatch also reported the feeling around the league is that Nash will need to alter his game if he is shipped out of town. The biggest change? Relying on his teammates more instead of trying to take the game over -- a luxury he never had in Columbus.
Doan's decision delayed
According to Fox Sports Arizona (via Pro Hockey Talk), Phoenix Coyotes' captain Shane Doan has pushed back his decision about leaving the team to July 16.
Doan's delay coincides with the date of a referendum that will help clear up the Coyotes' future in Glendale, Ariz. (their tax situation and ability to make money, namely). Originally, the date for the petition to go to referendum was July 9 but it was pushed back to July 16.
NHL
It is likely there will be legal wrangling about the franchise for the foreseeable future and that could mean Doan leaving Phoenix, where he prefers to stay.
Doan apparently has up to 16 teams that want to make him an offer if he decides to test free agency.
Suter meant no harm
Ryan Suter never meant to cause Nashville Predator any pain, according to The Tennesean (via Pro Hockey Talk).
"I have never tried to hide anything from anybody," Suter said. "I wanted it to work in Nashville, but the decision I made was to move on, and I'm sorry for the hurt that it has brought to Nashville GM David Poile and to the Predators."
While Suter may be acting rational about his departure, it is unlikely Nashville fans and the Predators' organization will be able to do the same anytime soon, while the city is still reeling.
