No hip surgery for JVR, Holmgren confirms

Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren has confirmed to CSNPhilly.com a TSN report that forward James van Riemsdyk does not need hip surgery, just rehab.
The 23-year-old played just 43 games last season due to a variety of injuries. He scored 11 goals and tallied 13 assists during the regular season before returning for seven playoff games.A Middletown, N.J. native, van Riemsdyk was the second overall pick in the 2007 draft.TSN also reported thathe is expected to make a full recovery in time for training camp in the fall.
