The first day of free agency came and went for the Flyers without much fanfare. They re-signed goalie Michael Leighton for one yearand then went quiet through the rest of the day.
But, though Sunday was uneventful, the potential for trades does remain. And for months now, when we speak of the Flyers and possible trades, we cant avoid mentioning the name of Columbus Blue Jackets captain Rick Nash.
While its anyones guess at this point where Nash will end up, we do know this much: hes not averse to coming to Philadelphia.
Per a report from Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Post-Dispatch, the Flyers remain on the 28-year-old wingers short list. The question, of course, is whether hes on theirs.
Though the Flyers true needs are on defense, plenty of rumors have circulated about their interest in a bevy of forwards. They submitted an offer sheet to free agent Zach Parise (see story), and have also been rumored to be a potential landing spot for Anaheim Ducks winger Bobby Ryan.
