WINNIPEG, Manitoba -- Officially, Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren has Kimmo Timonen listed as a game-time decision for Saturday's encounter with the Jets.
Unofficially, Holmgren is optimistic that his top defenseman will play despite a lower-body injury suffered in the second period of Thursday's 5-3 win at Toronto. Timonen was limping after the game.
“Kimmo hates not playing, so I feel pretty good about his chances of playing tomorrow,” Holmgren told CSNPhilly.com on Friday.
That's more encouraging than discouraging.
The 38-year-old has played in all 37 games thus far and is third on the team in plus/minus (plus-2) and fourth in points scored (24).
Holmgren also announced that defenseman Nicklas Grossmann, who has missed seven games with an upper-body injury, is still day-to-day, while Danny Briere is out indefinitely with a concussion.
The Flyers are off on Friday and resume their three-game road trip in Winnipeg on Saturday.
