BOX SCORE

You didn't the Flyers would get out of town without something difficult happening, did you?

They ended their four-game homestand at Wells Fargo Center with a 2-1 shootout loss to the Florida Panthers and finished the stretch with a 2-1-1 record.

Dave Bolland scored the game-winner in the sixth round of the shootout.

Now the tough part.

They hit the road for eight games starting this weekend in Toronto and won’t return home until the first week in January.

If the Flyers have any hopes of getting back into the playoff picture, it begins with this road trip.

After sitting out seven game -- six as a healthy scratch -- Vinny Lecavalier re-entered the lineup, but not at center, and not on a skill line.

He was minus-1 in the game. Lecavalier played right wing on Pierre-Edouard Bellemare’s fourth line with Zac Rinaldo.

The Flyers had a simply horrific opening period but got it together with a far stronger second period.

Notable goals
There was a nice setup by Bellemare early in the second period while transitioning from 4-on-4 to 5-on-5 play. He gave Jakub Voracek a pass from behind the net and the Flyers right wing buried it past Roberto Luongo for his 12th goal and 38th point -- tying him with Dallas’ Tyler Seguin for the league scoring lead.

Notable non-goals
Sean Bergenheim’s first-period deflection into the net was ruled to not be a goal, and was upheld on review because of a high-stick. Yeah, that stick was somewhere up near the rafters.

Goalie report
Flyers goalie Steve Mason faced 33 shots and had a tougher night in the net than Luongo. Mason came into the game with a lifetime 7-2-0 record and 1.55 goals against average against Florida. Mason was strong in the third with seven tough chances.

Power play
The Flyers were 0 for 1, while the Panthers were 0 for 2.

Penalty kill
The Flyers actually killed a few off without any mishaps.

Shots
Andrew MacDonald had a perfect setup during 4-on-4 in the second period on an open net. His shot missed by 20 feet. Before the period was over, Brayden Schenn duplicated the feat. We should also mention that it took the Flyers four minutes to get a shot in the third period.

Lines
Coach Craig Berube gave Scott Laughton’s line a lot of ice time in the third period.

Scratches
Defensemen Carlo Colaiacovo and Michael Del Zotto; forward Chris VandeVelde (all healthy).

Up next
The Flyers now go on an eight-game road trip that is broken up by the three-day Christmas break between Dec. 24 and 26. Their next game is Saturday night in Toronto. The Flyers will not return home to Wells Fargo Center until Jan. 6 against Ottawa.
