Peter Laviolette changed up all his lines on Tuesday in New Jersey to try and shake a win out of his club.

Didn’t work. Even worse, he lost Scott Hartnell (left foot injury) and Brayden Schenn (one-game suspension) after the game and both of them were on the top line with Claude Giroux.

So out of necessity, Laviolette will have to alter his lines again tonight against the Rangers.

The new first line will feature Giroux centering Wayne Simmonds and Matt Read, we’re told.

With three Flyers out, including injured Zac Rinaldo (skate cut), Jody Shelley and Tommy Sestito will make their season debuts. They’ll play on Eric Wellwood’s line.

Given the history between these two clubs, the Flyers are going to need extra toughness for this game, anyway.
