Rangers defenseman Marc Staal expects to begin practicing within the next seven to 10 days, according to a SportsNet Canada report.
Staal was struck just above the eye with a puck when Flyers defenseman Jakub Voracek deflected a Kimmo Timonen slapshot on March 5. He was not wearing a protective visor at the time of the injury, but is expected to use one when he returns to action.
The Rangers believe Staal’s recovery is going well enough that he could be in the lineup for the final few regular season games and possible playoff matchups. New York currently sits in seventh place in the East with 42 points.
Staal has two goals, nine assists and a plus-4 rating this season.
