The Flyers' rookies took down the Capitals' rookies, 1-0, in a preseason game on Monday in Arlington, Va.

Recently signed Taylor Leier scored the game's only goal. The bad news for the Flyers: Mark Alt suffered a concussion in the second period and is out indefinitely, according to GM Paul Holmgren.

Alt, 21, is a 6-foot-4, 201-pound defenseman who was drafted 53rd overall by the Hurricanes in the 2010 draft before being traded to the Flyers.

Leier, 19, agreed to a three-year entry level contract with the Flyers just hours before the game.

The contract is worth $2.56 million with an annual average value of $853,500 and includes games played bonuses (see story).
