DENVER – Matt Read is being held out of tonight’s game against the Avalanche.

The Flyers continue to say his injury is not serious. He reportedly took a high elbow to the head against Calgary this week.

“We’re giving him another day,” said coach Craig Berube, adding he expects Read back in the lineup Saturday at Phoenix.

General manager Paul Holmgren said Read remains day to day with an upper-body injury.

Jay Rosehill, who has been a healthy scratch for nine games, will shed the rust and play tonight. Steve Downie is expected to replace Read on Sean Couturier’s line with Vinny Lecavalier.

Read has a goal and four points over his previous seven games.
