Flyers rookie winger Michael Raffl will make his first visit to New York’s Madison Square Garden on Sunday night against the Rangers.
"You grow up hearing about that building, so it's going to be special for me," Raffl said.
"All you hear is the Madison Square Garden. I've never been there and I've never seen it. It's going to be nice."
The Flyers saw their 10-game home win streak end Saturday afternoon in a 6-3 loss to Tampa in the first of back-to-back games (see game recap). Raffl had two shots on goal and played 13:07.
In the Flyers' first game against the Rangers this season, a 2-1 home win on Oct. 24, the 25-year-old played 12:48 and had one shot on net.
Raffl has three goals and nine assists in his first season, and has been playing with Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek on the team's first line.
Because all of this is new to Raffl -- he's played only one career game vs. New York -- it's kind of hard for him to get a true feel for the rivalry between these two clubs and the hatred that exists, as well.
"They have a really good hockey team," he said. "It's not going to be an easy game. We're pretty hot in there right [now] and we can surely challenge them in their own building. It's going to be a good game."
