NHL Notes: Anaheim's Dany Heatley out two more weeks

Dany Heatley, who signed with the Anaheim Ducks this past offseason for one year and $1 million, is expected to be back in approximately two weeks, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Heatley has been out with a groin injury since Sept. 28, and opened the season on injured reserve. He did not make the four-game road trip with the team this week, but is skating and rehabbing in Anaheim.

If Heatley does make it back within the two-week time frame, his first game, the team's eighth of the season, would be against the San Jose Sharks. Heatley spent two seasons with the Sharks, scoring 65 goals in 164 games.

Hurricanes: Staal and Dwyer ruled out for Tuesday
The Carolina Hurricanes have been ravaged by injuries already this season, and will be for a bit longer.

Captain Eric Staal has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against Buffalo with an upper-body injury. Winger Patrick Dwyer has also been ruled out against the Sabres with a lower-body injury.

Staal left Saturday's game against the Islanders after he was hit hard from behind by Matt Martin. He left the game for good with 11 minutes left in the third period. Staal has accounted for two points in the Hurricanes' first two games of the season. Dwyer also left the game in the third period.
