NHL Postseason Predictions: Stanley Cup Final

Tim is 8-6 in his postseason predictions. Sarah is 7-7. It all comes down to this, the Cup Final, which kicks off Wednesday night in New York.

So who wins hockey's biggest prize? Here's what CSNPhilly.com's Flyers Insider and producer think.

Stanley Cup Final: New York Rangers vs. Los Angeles Kings

Tim: All three Kings’ series went the distance while they remain undefeated this postseason in elimination situations (7-0). The Rangers need to hope fatigue settles in, but the Kings are running on 12-cylinders of pure adrenalin right now. While Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist has been better than Jonathan Quick, the road traveled in the West by L.A. was far tougher. L.A. remains unrelenting in every aspect of its game while Jeff Carter has had a truly MVP performance in the playoffs. Carter is lightyears better as a two-way centerman than when he played with the Flyers. The Kings have a deeper pool of goal scorers. It looks like three Cups are in line for Justin Williams, and two each for Carter and Mike Richards. Prediction: Kings in six.

Sarah: Even though the two teams have played almost the same number of games, the Rangers have the advantage here in rest -- they haven't played since eliminating the Montreal Canadiens back on May 29. The thing is … that's pretty much the only advantage over the Kings they have at this point. The Kings have a better defense, quicker skaters, a deeper group of goalscorers -- and the list goes on. Panotch is right in highlighting just how well Carter has played, especially in the Kings' last series against the Hawks. The Rangers will have to hope Quick, who didn't put in a particularly strong performance against Blackhawks, falters once again, and that "King Henrik" Lundqvist earns his nickname. Otherwise, this is the Kings' series to lose. Prediction: Kings in six.
