Shayne Gostisbehere out Wednesday vs. Bruins

Flyers rookie defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere skated early Tuesday morning with assistant coach Ian Laperriere, then shot on the goalies, and actually went through a full practice with the team.

Ghost, however, will not play against Boston, the Flyers announced on Tuesday afternoon.

During the full practice, Gostisbehere was worked into the defensive pair rushes and drills, but did not have a set partner, which is always an indication of a player who will sit out a game.

Gostisbehere, who has seven goals and nine assists in 23 games this season, appeared to injure his right knee last Thursday in Minnesota with a knee-on-knee hit from Mikko Koivu. But he said on Monday that the collision was not the issue and that something happened throughout the game.

Gostisbehere avoided specifics on Monday. “Lower body,” he smiled.

Weal out
Forward Jordan Weal, acquired in last week’s Vinny Lecavalier/Luke Schenn trade with the Kings, will sit out again. For now, Weal is practicing as an extra forward on Pierre-Edouard Bellemare’s fourth line, which is curious since that line has a very specific role that is working well and Weal seems better suited elsewhere in the lineup.
