SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Kimmo Timonen skated early this morning at SAP Center but the defenseman remains a no-go again tonight when the Flyers meet the Sharks.

“He went out there to skate but he won’t play,” coach Craig Berube said. “Another day will do him good.”

This will be the second game Timonen has missed in succession on the trip and second of the entire season.

Timonen’s left foot is bothering him. He blocked a shot against Detroit on Jan. 28 and hasn’t been the same since, saying that it’s affected his skating and ability to make safe plays without turning pucks over.

He didn’t skate on Friday, either. The Flyers’ next game after Monday is Feb. 6 against Colorado at the Wells Fargo Center. If Timonen stays off the ice until then, he will have had six days to rest his foot.

Timonen’s partner, Braydon Coburn, is expected to work with Nick Grossmann tonight, just as he did Saturday afternoon against the Kings in Los Angeles.
