Zac Rinaldo's Wednesday night started out very good, but ended very badly.
The Flyers' forward scored his first goal of the season in the Flyers' 3-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens, but sustained a left high-ankle sprain in the process, according to Flyers general manager Paul Homgren. Rinaldo is expected to miss six weeks.
As far as recalling an extra player, Holmgren told CSNPhilly.com the club has filed paperwork to get a roster spot.
"Once that is official," he said, "we will recall a player. We can't announce anything due to the rules."
Rinaldo's injury comes as a surprise, as he was in good spirits after the game and didn't walk with a limp or have any ice taped to his foot or ankle. He led all Flyers in shots against the Canadiens with four, but played just 4:53 -- significantly shy of his average of 7:30.
Rinaldo had played in all of the Flyers' 44 games this season. He leads team with 101 penalty minutes and 135 hits.
