Bernardini leads Quakers past rival Brown

Tyler Bernardini scored 26 points with six 3-pointers and Pennsylvania held off Brown 70-62 on Friday night to snap a four-game losing streak.

Brown overcame a 14-point second-half deficit and twice took one-point leads, the last coming at 51-50 with 4:36 to play after two free throws by Sean McGonagill. The Quakers (12-12, 4-4 Ivy League) responded with an 18-4 run to grab a 68-55 lead with 35 seconds to play.

Zack Rosen added 19 points and Mike Howlett had 10 for the Quakers, who were taken to overtime in four of their previous six games.

The Quakers connected on 16 of 18 free throw attempts and the Bears made only 7 of 12. Brown shot only 39 percent from the field (23 of 59).

Peter Sullivan, who had missed the previous five games with an injury, and McGonagill each scored 16 points, and Tucker Halpern added 13 for the Bears (9-14, 2-7).
