Cornell hands Penn third straight overtime defeat

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Max Groebe hit two of his six 3-pointers in the first minute of overtime, helping Cornell dominate the extra period in an 82-71 win over Pennsylvania on Friday night.

The Big Red (6-15, 2-5 Ivy League) outscored the Quakers 19-8 in overtime, with Groebe scoring eight of his career-high 20 points and Chris Wroblewski six of his 21.

Wroblewski also scored Cornell's last five points in regulation, tying it at 63.

Penn's Conor Turley missed a free throw with 1 second left to force overtime.

The Big Red won two in a row for the first time this season, while Penn (9-11, 3-3) has lost three straight Ivy League games in overtime.

Cornell led by 16, at 29-13, with 7:08 to go in the first half, and the Quakers led by nine, at 52-43 with 8:41 to go in the second.

Jack Eggleston scored 21 points for the Quakers and Zack Rosen had 15, reaching the 1,000-point mark.
