The University of Delaware announced on Sunday that head football coach Dave Brock has been relieved of his duties.

After a 2-0 start, the Blue Hens have dropped their last four games, including a 24-17 decision to William & Mary on Saturday.

“After thorough consideration and assessment, we have made the decision to change leadership of our football program and I informed Dave this afternoon,” Delaware’s Director of Intercollegiate Athletics & Recreation's Services Christine Rawak said in a statement releaed by the university.

“As he has been throughout his time at UD, Dave was a true professional," Rawak continued. "We want to thank him for his four years of service to the University of Delaware. Ultimately, the hard work and effort off the field did not result in the success that we expect on the field. We wish Dave and his family the best.”

Brock became the fifth coach in program history when he took over the Blue Hens in 2013 and led the team to a 7-5 record that season. He followed that with a 6-6 mark in 2015 and 4-7 finish in 2015 before starting out 2-4 this year. His career record as Delaware’s coach was 19-22.

The university announced Dennis Dottin-Carter, the Blue Hens' co-defensive coordinator, will be the team’s interim head coach for the remainder of the season.

Delaware hasn't won more than seven games since K.C. Keeler coached the team to a 12-3 record in 2010.
