BOX SCORE

Temple snapped its two-game losing streak Tuesday night with a 76-67 win over Penn at the Liacouras Center in the first Big 5 matchup of the season.

The Owls improved to 3-2 on the season, while the Quakers are now winless at 0-4.

Jaylen Bond came off the bench in his first appearance at home as a Temple Owl. Bond missed the first two games with a sprained ankle, but made his season debut in Friday’s 74-54 loss to No. 4 Duke in Brooklyn. Bond struggled offensively in the win, but was strong defensively.

The Plymouth-Whitemarsh product finished with two points, four rebounds, three steals and one block.

Turning point
With a three-point lead late in the second half, Bond finally got on the scoreboard with his first points of the game. He received a pass in the paint unguarded and scored the easy bucket to put Temple up 68-63 with 3:22 left. The Owls called a timeout, then came out and finished strong.

Big men on campus
Three players scored at least 14 points — Mark Williams, Quenton DeCosey and Will Cummings — to lead Temple. Williams led the way with 24 points, shooting 66.7 percent from the field and 40.0 percent from beyond the arc.

Cummings finished with 16 and DeCosey had 14. Josh Brown added 11 points as well.
